Viking Sun Stones

From long before the advent of the magnetic compass,                                Viking Sun Stones were highly-prized for their glowing, translucent qualities that could allow ancient mariners to navigate just by          reading the levels of light captured in the stones. Even in the low-light/twilight conditions of the extreme Northern latitudes.

Viking Sun Stones  actually capture the faintest of twilight, even when the sun never emerges from beyond the horizon (as is the case in the Northern countries during the Winter months).

According to the Viking Museum, it is thanks to the ingenious use of these miraculous stones that the Vikings & other mariners could navigate their ships or land expeditions with amazing accuracy.

Besides being an indispensable tool for navigation, Viking sun stones are also amazing to observe at sunrise or sunset, as they                    capture and radiate the sun’s energy  into your environment.

Our Viking Sun Stone solar compasses are made from the same translucent stone as the ancient Vikings used for their sun stones,       mounted on a base indicating the 4 points on the compass,                   with your Viking Sun Stone pointing due North.
